I had every good intention of blogging late last night or early this morning, but… nope. I fear from this point I may fall behind a little. I will catch up, I promise. Before I start packing for our flight to Saigon tomorrow and before I head to dinner, let me check in with a few shots.
We toured cultural and historical sites yesterday. There will be no photos and little commentary on the second stop, the museum at the site of the former prison known as the Hanoi Hilton. I really hate tourism of incarceration or conflict. I understand how it is important to our host nation, but I have neither interest nor stomach for it. I hurried through to a bench at the end and waited there with Conrad, who cares little for it as well.
Happily, there were nicer things yesterday, so let me share a few shots. These are from the Temple of Literature, an ancient Confucian temple and educational complex.
Conrad had an adventure today to Ha Long Bay, and I went with five others to a university campus and to the National Library of Vietnam. Our hosts at each were wonderful, and I hope our discussion has been welcome. Again, more to come, but how about this for a cool new campus?
On to packing and such. And oh man, so many postcards to write!
