a super easy vacation day

Maybe there is some travel fatigue setting in, maybe we are tired of exploring the new and unfamiliar.  We find that our plans for our last week are diminishing. Becoming  less ambitious.  Prioritizing down time.

Let me be clear:  down time, doing nothing, on vacation is a very very good thing.  We will be doing activities during the rest of our time.  It’s just that we decide yesterday was not a day for them.

Oh, there was a bit of walking.  For me, alone, to and from Starbucks in the morning.

And then, after poolside breakfast with Conrad,

a mile or so around the SE corner of the old city.

And then to the post office mid-afternoon to send off the latest batch of postcards.  And then to dinner last night.  We got our steps in.  Otherwise?

Hours spent by and in the pool after the morning walk.

We would have stayed longer, but there was lunch to be had.  The hotel has a nice restaurant, and we enjoyed summer rolls and beef in a turmeric curry.  Oh, and a cocktail made from a Thai gin for me.

We finished daylight in a three hour spa session for each of us.  No photos of that, of course.  A body scrub, a massage, and a facial for me.  That left us glowing and ready for dinner.

Dinner was the down point of the day.  A nice looking place, but the food was so-so.  We did like the cocktail, though.

The fried shrimp balls in unripe rice were fine.

The smoked pork in white curry was tough and not as appealing to look at.  Worse, I spent most of dinner on my phone dealing with a tour booking for today that was seeming to go off the rails.  We got it canceled, leaving us plan less for today beyond the morning walk ahead as conducted by the hotel.  Maybe pool time this afternoon?  A nap?

I know that everyone who has been to Thailand will ask us if we did X or saw Y, but we are not.  We are enjoying the low key things we do, though, and that is enough for us.
