I struggle to recall when last I made the trip between Vancouver and my hometown by plane. It's not an inexpensive venture, and the most recent trips before this summer have usually entailed lengthy drives.

The flight up to Terrace was cloudy almost the entire way. It wasn't until we came up the valley from Kitimat and over Lakelse Lake that we could see what was below us. On the return, however, we enjoyed amazing scenery that kept each of us busy with the camera at the window - as was the case, in fact, for a number of other out-of-towners on the plane. The result is a set of photos of the Coast Mountains.








Not clear or crisp, thanks to shotting through the window, but sufficient to give an idea of the terrain that lines the BC coast until the plane passes over the Sunshine Coast (Gibsons is the town on the right, sunshine gleaming off the waters there) and then the flat Fraser River delta on its arrival at YVR.
