The desert, as I have previously noted, is in bloom this spring. This has not abated with the recent upward jolt in temperatures. Instead, more desert flowers have bloomed. We saw a number of ocotillo sporting orange-red spikes of flowers this past weekend. Even more welcome, perhaps, is the cheery yellow of flowers on the palo verde trees. Sorry, I know: palo verde means green tree (a reference to the trunk colour), so I just wrote green tree tree. We'll all survive. In the meantime, what joy to be found in their blooms this season!
