missing Yoshi

The price of weekends out of town (Vancouver, Denver) and otherwise booked (the Saturday and Sunday dinners last weekend) is that it's been weeks since we last made it in to Yoshi's. We missed it - I hope they missed us.

Lovely day in Chicago, though there were some late afternoon showers. Conrad and I spent some time sitting on the balcony, enjoying post-swimming coffee, then started cleaning. After a while we moseyed over to Alhambra Cafe, a newer neighbourhood restaurant that we'd walked past too many times without going in. Inexpensive, generous portions of simple Middle Eastern fare. We sat outside and enjoyed it a good deal. We'll go back.

More cleaning. More cleaning. A nap. More cleaning. More cleaning. We deserved a good dinner out.

It was a sultry evening. We could see a haze down the streets we walked. Boystown was busy, though we paid little attention. At Yoshi's we sat outside again, watching the world go by. We each had fish - cod with brandade for Conrad and king salmon with a miso sauce for me.
We each loved our meals immensely, and I think we each preferred our own meals to the other's. A bottle of Four Graces Pinot Blanc accompanied the meal, and we finished with a dessert of roasted figs and lemon cream tart in a chocolate pastry crust.

Ahhhhh.

On the way home we stopped in at Kafka. Some friends are coming for a wine tasting next month, and we're putting togetehr a full complement of bottles to get them to try. I'm excited for it!
